London: Britain on Friday reported a record 1,325 deaths over a 24-hour period of people who tested positive for coronavirus and a new high of 68,053 fresh cases.

The death toll eclipses the previous record of 1,224 deaths recorded on April 21 at the height of the first wave last year, and brings the total number of deaths to 79,833.
