A video of a 6-year-old Kashmiri girl addressing Prime Minister Narendra Modi and ‘protesting’ the pressures of online education has gone viral on social media this week. Since the valley's schools have been closed due to the COVID-19 lockdown, many students have been taking online classes to continue their education.

Mahiruh(6) expressed concerns about the stress of online lessons on youngsters her age. Authorities in Kashmir were so taken aback by the viral video that they gave the valley's school education administration 48 hours to come up with new rules for online classes for small children.

She wondered why children her age were given so much homework, asking, “This much work should be given to older kids. Not six-year-olds like me.”

Little Mahiruh’s video began with a wish for the Prime Minister in Hindi and then she detailed her long day. She claimed that she is continually occupied with online classes from 10am to 2pm. She takes English, Urdu, Math, EVS, and Computer Courses.

Many people shared the video on Twitter after it went viral, including Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor (LG) Manoj Sinha, who said he had taken action.

Sinha said, "Have asked the school education department to come out with a policy within 48 hours to ease the stress of schoolwork on school kids," calling it a ‘really beautiful complaint.’

“Childhood innocence is a gift from God, and their days should be lively, full of joy and bliss,” he continued.

The video went viral on Twitter, with viewers praising the young girl's intelligence as being superior to that of many adults. Others commended the LG for seeing the girl's video and making the necessary improvements.

Mahiruh is the daughter of Irrfan Ahmed Bhatt, a construction firm manager in Srinagar, and Rukshar, a homemaker, according to an article in The Indian Express. She is currently in class one
