Abu Dhabi: Abu Dhabi plans to host the “world’s largest fireworks display” with a 50-minute spectacle on New Year’s Eve at Sheikh Zayed Festival in Al Wathba.

The festival aims to break six Guinness World Records for the celebrations, which include a 6,000-drone show creating aerial art for more than 20 minutes.

Last New Year’s Eve, the Festival’s fireworks display lasted 40 minutes, breaking three Guinness World Records in terms of quantity, time and formation. Also, over 5,000 drones broke another Guinness World Record, for the largest aerial logo.

This time, the fireworks will begin every hour from 6pm, culminating in the record-bid midnight finale. There will also be laser shows, cultural performances, and a variety of other activities.

Meanwhile Yas Bay on Yas Island will host two fireworks displays, at 9pm and midnight.

Also, the Corniche, a popular destination for festivals and public holidays, will offer fireworks displays with its waterfront views.
