UAE reached 51.6°C in Al Ain, the highest May temperature, surpassing 50.2°C in 2009
Dubai: Today, the weather across the UAE is characterised by persistent heat and humidity, maintaining the weather pattern we’ve seen over the past few days. As reported by the National Center of Meteorology (NCM), residents should prepare for another scorching day, with temperatures expected to hover around the 48°C to 50°C mark in various areas.
Daytime highs are forecasted to be between 45°C and 48°C, with some regions possibly reaching near 50°C.
The UAE recorded its highest temperature for May on Saturday, reaching 51.6°C in Al Ain, Abu Dhabi. According to the NCM, this marks the highest temperature recorded in May since record-keeping began in 2003. The previous record for the month was 50.2°C, set in 2009.
Overall, the weather will remain fair, with a possibility of partly cloudy skies at times. As the afternoon approaches, expect clouds to develop, particularly in the eastern regions.
Light to moderate winds will prevail throughout the day, with periods of freshening at times. This could provide some brief relief but will not significantly lower the temperatures.
Humidity levels are expected to be high, reaching up to 90%. This will contribute to a muggy atmosphere, making the heat feel more oppressive and uncomfortable.
The sea conditions in the Arabian Gulf and the Oman Sea are generally calm.
Residents are encouraged to stay hydrated and avoid prolonged exposure to the sun, especially during peak hours. As always, it's advisable to check for any updates from the NCM throughout the day for the latest on weather conditions.
