UAE residents warned to brace for heavy rain this week
Dubai: Heavy rain hit some areas of Al Ain on Tuesday, August 5, at around 4 p.m., while other parts of the country saw partly cloudy skies. Dusty conditions with low visibility were also reported in parts of Dubai. Heavy rain was reported in Um Ghafa, and Sa'a (or Sa'ah) and Kattam, both located within the eastern region of Al Ain, Abu Dhabi. According to the latest weather alert, there is a chance of convective (rainy) cloud formation associated with rainfall over some eastern and southern areas until 8 p.m. today. Dust and strong winds covered parts of Dubai on Tuesday evening.
More rain is on the way for the UAE, with a forecast from the National Center of Meteorology (NCM) predicting cloudy conditions and potential showers this week. Eastern regions like Fujairah, Al Ain, and Ras Al Khaimah could see rain, while moderate to heavy rainfall is expected across the country on Thursday and Friday.
"The country is affected by an extension of a surface low pressure system accompanied by humid southeasterly winds, with an extension of a low pressure system from the northwest and a flow in the upper air levels with the formation of rainy clouds associated with moderate to heavy rainfall over scattered areas in the country. Motorists must drive carefully, as strong winds at times may suddenly cause dusty weather conditions and sandstorms, reducing visibility."
According to AccuWeather, temperatures across the UAE are expected to reach highs of 45°C to 49°C, with lows averaging between 36°C and 39°C. The 'RealFeel' temperature in Dubai is currently 42°C.
Fair to partly cloudy and hazy at times during the daytime, with a probability of some convective cloud formation eastward and southward, which may be associated with rainfall. It will be humid by night and Wednesday morning over some coastal and internal areas westward. Light to moderate southeasterly to northeasterly winds will freshen at times during the daytime, causing blowing dust, with a speed of 10–25 km/hr, reaching 40 km/hr. The sea will be slight to moderate at times in the Arabian Gulf and the Oman Sea.
