UAE weather forecast: Dusty skies and rough sea alert, minimum temperature drops to 10°C today

Dubai: Residents can expect cold nights and cool mornings as winter grips the country, signaling the start of the colder months. The lowest temperature recorded over the country today morning is 10.7°C in Raknah (Al Ain) at 06:15 am.

According to the National Centre of Meteorology (NCM) residents across the UAE can expect a mix of fair to partly cloudy weather today, with conditions turning dusty at times, particularly over western regions.

NCM expects temperatures to remain pleasant during the day, followed by a noticeable rise in humidity tonight that could lead to fog or mist formation early Wednesday.

Coastal and island areas will see daytime temperatures ranging between 30°C and 26°C, supported by light sea breezes that may offer some relief from the heat. Inland regions will be slightly hotter, with temperatures climbing to 33°C to 29°C, particularly during mid-afternoon. The mountains will remain the coolest part of the country, where temperatures are forecast between 25°C and 19°C, making these areas significantly more pleasant.

Humidity levels will gradually increase as the day progresses. Along the coast, moisture levels are expected to peak between 90% and 70%, while mountainous areas will see readings from 75% to 55%. This build-up of humidity will become more pronounced by nightfall, especially over coastal and internal areas, setting the stage for fog or mist early Wednesday morning. Residents in locations with a history of dense fog such as Abu Dhabi’s outskirts, parts of Al Ain, and open desert stretches may experience visibility dropping to near-zero at times.

Winds will generally remain light to moderate, but forecasters note they may freshen in western regions, contributing to pockets of blowing dust. These dusty periods could temporarily affect road visibility, particularly along highways leading toward the western part of Abu Dhabi.

Maritime conditions will also shift through the day. The Arabian Gulf is expected to remain slight to moderate, but wave activity will increase westward by afternoon, turning the sea rough in those offshore areas. Meanwhile, the Oman Sea will stay slight, offering relatively stable conditions for vessels.

With the combination of dust, rising humidity, and the strong chance of fog forming overnight, authorities urge motorists to plan ahead, reduce speed in low-visibility areas, and follow NCM updates closely for real-time safety alerts.
