Safety alert in UAE: Convective clouds and rainfall forecasted in eastern and southern areas

The Met Office issued a safety alert for motorists in the region

Dubai: Orange and yellow alerts were issued across parts of the UAE for convective clouds this afternoon.

According to the National Center of Meteorology (NCM), light rain was reported over Showkah and Wadi Isfay in Ras AL Khaimah. Additionally orange and yellow alerts were issued for convective clouds over eastern and southern regions of the country.

Residents in Fujairah, Al Ain and Al Dhafra regions can expect rainfall today as convective clouds associated with rainfall are forecast to stay until 8pm tonight.

A safety alert was also issued for residents in the area, to follow safety measures during the rain. The alert states motorists should avoid driving unless absolutely necessary.

These weather conditions are forecast to continue on Monday, July 28 as well over eastern and southern regions of the country. Residents are also advised to be cautious as wind speeds are forecast to reach up to 40 km/hr, causing blowing dust and a reduction in horizontal visibility.
