Dubai: The National Center of Meteorology (NCM) has released its August weather outlook, forecasting average temperatures of 35.7°C, 72 per cent relative humidity, and occasional dust-laden winds due to shifting sea and land breezes. Monthly rainfall is expected to remain light, averaging 5.3 mm.

Seasonal wind shifts and dust risk

The NCM notes that land and sea breeze cycles dominate August weather, with southeasterly winds overnight and northerly winds during the day. On some mornings, strong southerly winds may carry dust, while northwesterly winds can stir up similar conditions in western regions.

As the heat and humidity intensify across the UAE, the NCM also issued a weather alert for Saturday, warning of convective cloud formation and potential rainfall between 2pm and 8pm, particularly over eastern and southern areas. Winds may reach up to 40 km/h, stirring dust and sand that could reduce visibility in affected regions.

Abu Dhabi Police have issued a warning on X (formerly Twitter), calling on motorists to exercise caution due to the rainy weather and to follow the changing speed limits displayed on electronic information boards. Drivers are urged to stay alert and drive safely.

Sunday forecast (August 3) is expected to be fair to partly cloudy, with the possibility of convective clouds and rain forming over eastern and southern parts of the country by the afternoon. Fog or mist may develop overnight into Monday, especially in western areas, due to rising humidity levels.

Winds will range from light to moderate southeasterly to northeasterly, occasionally freshening to 35 km/h. Seas will be slight in the Arabian Gulf and slight to moderate in the Oman Sea.

Residents are urged to remain cautious and follow updates on changing weather patterns, especially during high winds or reduced visibility.
