The Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has highlighted key safety guidelines for Dubai bus commuters, reminding passengers that their safety and comfort are top priorities on every journey.

A recent RTA social media post focused on the red‑marked areas near bus doors, which are strictly prohibited for standing.

“Standing in the red-marked area may put your safety at risk when the bus moves or stops suddenly and can make it harder for others to board and exit smoothly,” the post said.

Passengers are urged to respect this simple rule to prevent accidents and ensure efficient passenger movement.

According to the RTA website:

  • Dh100 – Standing or sitting in non-passenger areas inside public transport vehicles or facilities

  • Dh200 – Causing distraction or obstruction to the driver while the vehicle is in motion
