Dubai: Abu Dhabi Police have released a video showcasing a traffic accident caused by a driver who stopped in the middle of the road after a minor collision, leading to a multi-vehicle pile-up. This incident underscores the importance of promptly clearing the road to prevent further accidents.

The police are urging drivers involved in minor accidents to move their vehicles to the nearest safe parking area and report the incident using the Saad app. Alternatively, drivers can contact the Saad operation room at 80072233 for assistance.

Dh500 fine for traffic obstruction

Under Article 98, obstructing traffic is considered a violation, with offenders facing a fine of Dh500. Abu Dhabi Police emphasised that drivers should never stop in the middle of the road for any reason. Instead, they should proceed to the nearest exit to ensure their own safety as well as the safety of other road users, helping to prevent serious accidents and traffic disruptions.

Avoid distractions

The police also stressed the importance of staying focused while driving and avoiding distractions.

Abu Dhabi Police regularly share footage of accidents caused by reckless driving on social media to raise awareness about the consequences of ignoring traffic regulations.

The video is part of the Police’s "Your Comment" safety initiative, where clips are shared to highlight the risks of various driving behaviors and encourage discussions on proper road etiquette.
