Photos, prices and details of opulent Middle East hotel with USA links
US President Donald Trump is staying at one of the UAE's most impressive hotels during his trip to Abu Dhabi - and it has strong American links.
The statesman will be sleeping at the Ritz-Carlton Abu Dhabi, a lavish hotel neatly placed on the banks of the Grand Canal. It is very close to - and has spectacular views of - the beautiful Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque, where President Trump was expected to visit earlier in the day.
The opulent hotel, which opened in 2013, is owned by Abu Dhabi National Hotels and operated by Marriott International, a USA-based company. It sits within a 57-acre garden and has a large ballroom, as well as a host of meeting rooms, which will be useful during President Trump's visit.
After a long day of travelling and many meetings, he will be staying in one of the 504 bedrooms or 15 villas, which, along with the rest of the resort, are said to be inspired by early 17th century Renaissance architecture and the city of Venice.
President Trump will most likely be stopping in the 250-square-metre Royal Suite, which has two bedrooms and two baths surrounded by plenty of marble. It also has sitting and dining areas, so plenty of space for his many security and support staff.
The hotel has eight restaurants, including Lebanese and Asian eateries. If President Trump is feeling peckish, it is perhaps more likely he will pick the steakhouse.
The hotel states on its website: "The culinary journey at our luxury hotel in Abu Dhabi begins with ingredients selected to suit even the most discerning palate and ends with the fond farewell of the renowned Ritz-Carlton service."
The President won't have far to travel to get back to Air Force One, with a simple 20-minute car journey back to Abu Dhabi airport.
And prices? It may be more affordable than you think, with rooms starting at around Dh1,000 per night. However, if you want to stop in the lavish Royal Suite, you'll need to find around Dh70,000 per night.
