Dubai: The Security Industry Regulatory Agency (SIRA) has awarded security guard Ammar Bahadur the prestigious SIRA Medal of Devotion—not just for his professionalism, but for the positivity and joy he brings to his community.

More than a job, a source of happiness

A familiar face at Dubai Design District, Ammar is known for his ever-present smile and uplifting attitude. His cheerful demeanor has made him more than just a security guard—he’s become a beacon of positivity for visitors and colleagues alike. Videos capturing his warm greetings and joyful interactions have gone viral, touching hearts across social media.

Honoured in special ceremony

Ammar received the SIRA Medal of Devotion in a ceremony held on Monday, where Khalid Al Bloushi, Manager of the Relations Department, and Mohammed Al Mazmi, Manager of the Security Service Providers Department, presented the award. The event celebrated Ammar’s spirit and highlighted SIRA’s commitment to recognising acts of everyday heroism within the private security sector.

A medal that honours dedication and heart

The SIRA Medal of Devotion is awarded to individuals who demonstrate outstanding commitment and integrity in their roles. The criteria include:

  • Performing duties with honesty and dedication

  • Making personal sacrifices for the benefit of others

  • Taking action during crises to support the community

Ammar exemplifies these values—and he does so with a smile.

New campaign to spotlight everyday heroes

To build on this momentum, SIRA has launched a new initiative encouraging residents to share inspiring stories about security guards across Dubai. Through the agency’s official website, the public can submit positive experiences and recognize guards who go above and beyond.

Celebrating unsung heroes of the community

Khalifa Ibrahim Al Saleis, CEO of SIRA, said the initiative aims to spotlight the often-overlooked contributions of security personnel.
“We’re proud to celebrate security guards and the everyday moments that often go unnoticed. Every story matters—every kind act has the power to inspire,” he said. “We want to shine a light on these real-life heroes and remind everyone of their value to our community.”
