UAE resident uses his vehicle to help fight fire, honoured by Sharjah Civil Defence

A quick-thinking Pakistani resident has been honoured by Sharjah Civil Defence for his bold and selfless act—using his own vehicle to help extinguish a burning waste transport truck in one of the emirate’s industrial zones.

Brigadier General Yousef Obaid Al Shamsi, Director General of Sharjah Civil Defence, personally awarded the man for his rapid response and bravery.

Instead of standing by, the man jumped into action and deployed his own crane, working alongside firefighters to douse the flames. His swift intervention helped contain the fire quickly and prevented any injuries.

“This level of courage and public responsibility is exactly what we aim to promote,” said Brigadier Al Shamsi. “His actions significantly helped minimise damage and ensured public safety.”

Authorities said the recognition highlights their commitment to community partnerships and celebrating residents who rise to the occasion during emergencies.
