Sharjah has introduced remote working for employed mothers in the government sector, aiming to support work-life balance and family stability, officials said.

Hesham Suhail Al Qahtani, Director of HR Systems at the Sharjah Department of Human Resources, said the new policy allows working mothers with children in schools or nurseries to work remotely.

He said the decision follows approval by higher authorities to implement flexible working arrangements across government entities, with the exception of roles deemed essential or operationally critical.

The initiative is designed to ease daily pressures on working mothers while maintaining productivity and service efficiency.

Officials said the policy reflects Sharjah’s broader commitment to enhancing employee wellbeing and supporting families, while ensuring continuity of government services.

The rule comes as public sector entities increasingly adopt flexible work models in response to evolving workplace needs.
