Dubai Police Chief Al Marri presented the award at the World Police Summit
Dubai: Pakistani female police officer Anum Khan Muhammad Sher has earned international recognition by winning the Excellence in Criminal Investigation Award at the 2025 World Police Summit Awards in Dubai.
The award was presented by Lieutenant General Abdullah Khalifa Al Marri, Commander-in-Chief of Dubai Police, in a high-profile ceremony attended by police and security leaders from over 90 countries.
Assistant superintendent of Police (ASP) Anum Khan’s recognition places her and Pakistan’s policing standards on the global map, marking a defining moment for Punjab Police and the nation’s growing commitment to professional law enforcement.
Anum is currently serving as Sub-Divisional Police Officer (SDPO) at Sargodha City Police Stationi.
Selected from among more than 900 submissions from around the world, Anum Khan was honoured for her outstanding leadership in solving two major murder cases in Punjab province.
Murder cases
In the first case, she oversaw the investigation into the brutal killing of 12-year-old domestic worker Ayesha Bibi. Within just 72 hours, under her direct supervision, the Sargodha police successfully apprehended the suspects, a breakthrough that drew praise from the public and top government officials, including the Punjab Chief Minister.
In another high-stakes case, Anum led the rapid investigation of the murder of a young man named Mohsin, ensuring the suspects were captured within 24 hours. These swift and effective operations highlighted her command over investigative procedures and her dedication to justice, earning her prior commendations from Punjab Police leadership.
Speaking at the summit, Anum Khan said: “This is a proud moment not just for me, but for the entire Pakistan Police, especially the Punjab Police. It shows the world that we are committed to justice and capable of upholding the highest standards of professional policing. This award is a tribute to the tireless efforts of my team and the principles we stand for.”
Female officers
Her win is being hailed as a milestone for women in law enforcement in Pakistan. It underscores the evolving role of female officers in shaping modern policing, both at home and on the international stage. Anum’s achievement sends a strong message of empowerment and capability within the Pakistani police force.
The World Police Summit, now in its fourth edition, is among the most prestigious global platforms for recognising innovation, courage, and excellence in policing.

Other awardees included Lt Col Dr Mariam Darwish Al Hashmi of Fujairah Police (Most Inspirational Female Officer), and India’s Hyderabad Police (Excellence in Anti-Narcotics).
Lieutenant General Al Marri praised the high quality of this year’s entries, noting the Summit’s growing global impact and its role in strengthening cooperation among international law enforcement agencies.
