Praveen Arun Tellis began purchasing tickets two months ago with a group of seven friends
Abu Dhabi: An Indian expat who has been living in the UAE for the past 20 years has won the Big Ticket draw after just two months of buying tickets.
Praveen Arun Tellis, a 52-year-old manager in the shipping and retail sector, won Dh50,000 in the weekly e-draw, which saw other expats from India, the Philippines, and Syria take home cash prizes.
Tellis was introduced to Big Ticket by a colleague and began purchasing tickets two months ago with a group of seven friends.
When he received the call informing him of the win, Tellis was stunned.
“I was like, really? I won? I just couldn’t believe it,” he said.
He plans to divide the winnings equally among the group and intends to use his share to support his family.
After living alone in the UAE for six years, Tellis brought his family to join him, as staying together was always a priority. A few years ago, following the passing of his father, he brought his elderly mother to live with him so he could personally care for her.
Though grateful for his life in the UAE, Tellis admits that managing household expenses can be challenging – making this win a significant relief.
“Thank you, Big Ticket, for making life easier,” he said.
This May, Big Ticket is offering Dh20 million in grand prize draw to be held on June 3. There are several other cash prizes to be won through the weekly draws, Big Win contest, Dream Car promotion, and more rewards. Tickets can be bought online through the official website, or at counters located in Zayed International Airport and Al Ain Airport.
