Another Indian expat from Karnataka also triumphs in The Big Win Contest
Abu Dhabi: After 10 years of buying tickets, luck finally smiled upon an Indian expat from Kerala in Abu Dhabi’s Big Ticket draw.
Shaiju Karayat became one of the four lucky winners to take home a combined prize value of Dh390,000 in The Big Win Contest of the latest Big Ticket raffle.
The 42-year-old sales executive became a winner of The Big Win Contest which allowed him to play live in the Series 273 draw held on April 3.
The contest offers each of the four winners a guaranteed cash prize ranging from Dh20,000 to Dh150,000.
A Dubai resident since 2010, he has been purchasing Big Ticket entries every month alongside a close-knit group of 10 friends, for the past 10 years.
“When I received the call, I was overwhelmed with excitement,” he said. “This is the first time I’ve ever received a call like this and actually won a raffle draw—it still feels surreal.”
He won Dh100,000 after trying his luck in The Big Win Contest.
He plans to split the prize money among his friends.
“I’ll definitely keep buying more tickets. And to anyone who’s thinking about it—take the risk and take part. You never know when your moment will come,” he added.
Another Indian expat winner of The Big Win Contest is Suhail Ahmed, a 35-year-old brand promoter from Karnataka.
A Dubai resident for the past seven years, he has been purchasing Big Ticket entries every month on his own since 2018.
“I was actually asleep when the call came in,” he recalled. “Most mornings, my phone is on silent—but by God’s grace, the ringer was on that day, and I didn’t miss it. I am so happy.”
Suhail also won Dh100,000 in the game.
With plans to buy a car and something special for his wife, he says this win feels like a blessing. “I’ll definitely keep buying more tickets. My advice to others is: save up a little, and go for it.”
