Sharjah: His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Muhammad Al Qasimi, Member of the Supreme Council and Ruler of Sharjah, has announced the construction of a new road over the mountain peaks connecting Sharjah to Khorfakkan.

The visionary project is set to redefine travel, offering breathtaking views, lush landscapes and seamless connectivity over Sharjah’s highest peaks, an engineering feat described by Dr. Sultan as "a miracle never seen before".

Speaking on the ‘Direct Line’ programme on Sharjah Radio and Television, Dr. Sultan highlighted the road’s unique features, stating that driving along it will be a true pleasure. The route will be surrounded by trees, lush landscapes, water canals, and picturesque houses, transforming the journey into an unforgettable experience.

Heading from the Al Ghazeer Tunnel, the road will ascend to the highest mountain summit in Khorfakkan — soaring 1,100 metres above sea level — offering panoramic views and extraordinary natural beauty.

The visionary project aims to facilitate travel between Sharjah and Khorfakkan, significantly reduce journey times, and boost infrastructure in the region. Spanning across the mountain peaks, the road will provide travellers with breathtaking landscapes and a unique connection between the coast and the interior.

The project part of a broader strategy to enhance connectivity, support regional development, and reflect the Ruler’s enduring commitment to sustainable progress and quality of life across the emirate.
