New branch for medical store
In response to the requests of many customers in Abu Dhabi, Nabila Medical Plants and Herbals has opened a branch in Medinat Zayed.
The business is run by Dr Nabila Ismail who studied first at Al Ain University and then in Egypt, where she specialised in the medical use of herbs and plants. In 1993, she and her husband opened their first shop in Dubai, where the remedies soon became very popular.
Nabila's treatments follow the Gulf's long tradition of using natural remedies, some originally developed by Bedouin tribes. However, in line with modern requirements, her medicines are fully tested and their production in Egypt is carefully supervised. In addition, Nabila's sound medical background enables her to give advice on which herbal remedy to use.
The list of ailments that respond to herbal treatment is impressive. Not only colds and stomach upsets, but more serious complaints such as viral infections, arthritis, diabetes and hepatitis can be helped. Nabila insists that patients do not simply abandon any medication prescribed by their physician, and for some time both courses of treatment are followed. Regular tests are also made to monitor progress.
Herbal medicines are most effective when freshly prepared, usually by simply making a 'tea' from the herbs supplied. This is then drunk or, in the case of skin problems, applied to the affected area.
