Party in Pink 

Fitness First is organising its annual ladies-only Pink Zumbathon at the Fitness First Meadows Sportszone. Dubbed Party in Pink, the event will bring women in the UAE together to create awareness and encourage them to stay active and healthy to reduce risks of breast cancer. The Zumbathon is free and open to everyone. Fitness First will be giving away an adidas shirt to the first 500 participants.

Pink it now

In collaboration with Pink Caravan, Zulekha Hospital’s Pink It Now initiative returns with free specialist consultations and mammograms. The campaign is aimed at highlighting the importance of early detection and regular check-ups. In addition to free X-ray mammograms and consultations with oncologist and gynaecologists, the hospital offers 50 per cent off on ultrasound tests.

Rowathon

The Jumeirah Creekside Hotel’s 24-hour Rowathon in aid of Breast Cancer Awareness is being held in partnership with Pink Caravan. The event takes place in the hotel lobby, with six rowing machines being rowed continuously for 24 hours to help raise funds to support Pink Caravan. Participants include employees of Jumeirah Creekside Hotel, Aviation Club employees and members, and local schools.

Pink Ladies Games

Herculean Coop and Promoseven Sports Marketing are organising the Pink Ladies Games to raise funds and awareness for Pink Caravan. Open to women of all ages, the half-day event will see teams of three to five compete in fun competitions with a female touch. They include make-over and car tyre-changing challenges. Breakfast is provided courtesy of the Fairmont. Team registration is Dh650.

Pink Caravan

The Galleria on Al Maryah Island and Friends Of Cancer Patients will play host to a Pink Caravan for breast cancer awareness, featuring various activities to raise awareness of breast cancer. While a special examination room will be set up for women, a seating lounge will be available for discussions with experts to dispel doubts and myths about the condition.

Awareness talks

Joining in the worldwide campaign, Danat Al Emarat Hospital will hold presentations at its premises on breast cancer every Thursday throughout October, while physicians from Danat Al Emarat Hospital for Women and Children will discuss breast cancer at New York University Abu Dhabi and Paris Sorbonne University Abu Dhabi, as well as at GEMS academies during a variety of educational programmes through October.

Pink Marathon

Abu Dhabi will host the fourth edition of the Abu Dhabi Commercial Bank (ADCB) Zayed Sports City Pink 5m and 10km run. Sponsored by ADCB and Daman’s ActiveLife, and organised by Gulf Multi Sport and Abu Dhabi Striders, the event is for all ages and fitness levels. Participants are requested to dress up in pink with all entry fees being donated to breast cancer awareness. Entry costs Dh180 for adults and Dh110 for children. It includes a pink-inspired gift pack, T-shirt, finisher’s medal and post-run refreshments. Entry fees will be donated to awareness and research organisations.

Pink Paddle Event 

Eastern Mangroves Hotel and Spa by Anantara is hosting the Pink Paddle Event in support of breast cancer awareness month. Enjoy a guided kayak tour around the mangroves, wearing pink, to raise money for the fight against the disease. For an additional charge, stay for brunch at Ingredients. The cost is Dh150 for adults and Dh130 for children. Dh100 from each ticket goes to Bosom Buddies, an Abu Dhabi-based cancer support group.
