Abu Dhabi: While Emergency Departments are working round the clock during the long Eid holidays, the family medicine clinics in the capital city have been closed since Monday.

A statement released by Shaikh Khalifa Medical City (SKMC) regarding working hours during Eid Al Adha stated that the SKMC Family Medical Clinics — namely Al Bateen, Al Khaleej, Al Manhal, Al Mushrif, Al Rowda and Al Zafaranah — will re-open only on Thursday.

Family Medicine Clinics include screening and immunisation programmes, prenatal and neonatal care, women's health programme, child development, teen health, acute to chronic adult care, geriatric care, mental health care, community outreach and education, minor procedures/surgeries, research, referral management, counselling and a home care programme.

"The in-patient services and the hospital's emergency department will naturally remain open all the time," said the SKMC statement.

All departments including critical care, operation theatre and Emergency Rooms are functional however in most of the private hospitals across Abu Dhabi.

"We are prepared to take care of any kind of medical emergency like any other day. All our medial specialists will work as per their regular duties, and will be easily available during the Eid holidays," said Dr S.N. Manohar, medical administrator at the NMC Speciality Hospital.

The Ministry of Health has designated a number of health centres and clinics to work during the Eid Al Adha holidays.

Dr. Mohammad Fikri, Executive Director of Health Policy Affairs at the Ministry of Health that the working hours will cover all the Eid holidays.

Hor Al Anz Medical Centre in Dubai shall work from 8am to 1pm, and from 5pm to 9pm

Sharjah and Wasit Health Centres in Sharjah shall work from 8am to 1pm, and from 5pm to 11pm.

Al Mudam and Abu Musa Island Health Centres in Sharjah shall also work from 8am to 1pm, and from 5pm to 9pm.

Al Thumaid Centre will work on Arafa day and Wednesday from 8am to 12pm , and will also function 24 hours a day on call for the rest of the holidays.

Al Maliha Centre will work on Arafa day and Thursday from 9am to 12pm , and from 5pm to 9pm, it will also function 24 hours a day on call for the rest of the holidays.
