Dubai: Shaikh Hamdan Bin Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum made an abra driver’s day a very special one when the Dubai Crown Prince visited Deira and Bur Dubai recently.
In a video posted on Instagram, Shaikh Hamdan can be seen interacting with the abra driver as he crosses the creek between the two parts what is often called Old Dubai.
An abra, or a traditional motorised water taxi, is a permanent feature of the Dubai Creek, which is lined by both the old — the Shindagha heritage district, old souqs and old fort that has been turned into a museum — and the new, such as signature glass-and-metal buildings.
The video also shows different shots of the famous souqs in the area.
