Multiple threats intercepted; public told it is safe to resume normal activities
Dubai: The UAE Ministry of Defence (MoD) confirmed that its air defence systems intercepted several incoming missiles and unmanned aerial vehicles launched from Iran amid rising regional tensions.
In back-to-back advisories, the MoD said the loud sounds heard in parts of the country were caused by air defence systems engaging the threats, not ground impacts. Authorities added that multiple threats were successfully neutralised, with no missile or drone strikes reported on the ground.
Earlier, residents in several areas, including Abu Dhabi, Dubai, Sharjah and Al Ain, received SMS alerts advising them to seek shelter in the nearest secure building and stay away from windows, doors and open areas.
A nationwide mobile alert issued later confirmed that the situation was safe, following earlier warnings of potential missile threats. The message also thanked the public for their cooperation and said normal activities could resume.
In separate advisories, the Ministry of Interior (MoI) and the National Emergency Crisis and Disaster Management Authority (NCEMA) had urged residents to remain indoors or in secure locations and follow official channels for verified updates.
