Dubai: In line with the leadership’s commitment to enhancing government efficiency and service quality, Sheikh Ahmed bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Second Deputy Ruler of Dubai, visited the headquarters of the General Directorate of Residency and Foreigners Affairs (GDRFA), Dubai.

Sheikh Ahmed was received by Lieutenant General Mohammed Ahmed Al Marri, Director General of GDRFA, Dubai and Major General Obaid Muhair bin Suroor, Deputy Director General. He was accompanied by Abdulla Mohammed Al Basti, Secretary General of The Executive Council of Dubai.

During the visit, Sheikh Ahmed was briefed on the GDRFA’s latest strategic initiatives and development projects, which align with Dubai’s vision of a smart, integrated, and people-centric government. Key topics included the 360 Services Policy, service leadership programs, implementation of artificial intelligence solutions, risk management systems, and institutional auditing practices.

Streamlining procedures

He praised the GDRFA’s ongoing efforts in streamlining procedures, enhancing customer experience, and embracing advanced technologies — initiatives that reinforce Dubai’s position as a global benchmark for smart governance and future-ready cities.

He also reviewed various forward-looking practices that highlight GDRFA’s role in driving innovation in public services and contributing to the broader goals of sustainable development and global competitiveness. These include internal initiatives focused on reputation-building, employee well-being, future foresight, and promoting workplace wellness through sports and community engagement.

Broader agenda

The visit forms part of Sheikh Ahmed’s broader agenda to evaluate the performance of government institutions and support their evolution in line with Dubai’s strategic objectives for innovation, integration, and excellence in public service.

Lt. General Al Marri expressed his deep appreciation for the visit, stating: “We were honoured by Sheikh Ahmed bin Mohammed’s presence, which greatly motivates our team to continue delivering high-quality, people-first services. His engagement strengthens our drive for innovation and affirms that institutional excellence is a foundational value in our national development.”

He added: “At GDRFA-Dubai, we remain committed to upholding the UAE’s reputation for quality, efficiency, and forward-thinking governance by actively contributing to initiatives that enhance well-being and elevate our country’s global standing.”
