Abu Dhabi: Blue and white colours will be the new identity of Abu Dhabi Police patrol fleets in the emirate of Abu Dhabi, it was announced on Sunday.
The existing red and white colours of emirate’s police vehicles will gradually be replaced with blue and white.
The new vehicle colours were launched at the Armed Forces Officer’s Club in the capital on Sunday.
About a dozen of brand new blue and white colour police vehicles were rolled out of the main entrance of the club.
Gradually, all Abu Dhabi Police fleets, including traffic patrols, rescue and assistance cars will be converted into blue and white.
Major General Mohammad Khalfan Al Rumaithi, Commander-in-Chief of Abu Dhabi Police, launched the new colour vehicles.
Speaking to Gulf News on the sideline of the launching ceremony, he said, “all red and white patrols will be converted into white and blue colours”.
“We aim to further enhance the whole image of Abu Dhabi emirate with new branding, corporate designing and that’s the purpose,” Maj Gen Al Rumaithi said.
About the security and safety of the people, Maj Gen Al Rumaithi said, “the colour has nothing to do with the security. The security depends on how well-equipped you work in the field and we would continue that and Abu Dhabi will remain the safest city in the world as it has been.”
Maj Gen Al Rumaithi said, “The colour conversion of police is a long process. We haven’t finished yet. In November we will be launching our new uniform and there will be some other surprises as well.”
Abu Dhabi Police has plans for the total transformation of its fleet, emblem and uniform of officers to attach more traditional, cultural and local texture to a local government entity.
Earlier it changed the emblem, now vehicle colour and finally the police uniforms will be replaced with new ones in November.
New tamper proof police badges with a new emblem were launched in July, which police officers carry with them all time, and if anybody in the community asks them during investigations, they have to show it.
Since last five months, the police official teams were engaged in desiging the new police logo, new colour of vehicles and uniform.
Maj Gen Al Rumaithi said the Abu Dhabi Police always keep modernising the services to better serve the community.
Major General Maktoum Ali Al Sharifi, director general of Abu Dhabi Police, said police patrol play an important role in ensuring security and peace in the society and prevailing awareness among the people to follow rules.
The police also showcased a Porsche car, first sports car, which was used for police patrols in Abu Dhabi Police in 1979.
A number of senior officials drove the new vehicles from the club to the police headquarter, including Maj Gen Al Rumaithi and Major General Maktoum Ali Al Sharifi, Director General of Abu Dhabi Police.
Shaikh Mohammad Bin Sultan Bin Khalifa Bin Zayed Al Nahyan also attended the ceremony.
Owners of Al Masood, Al Futtain, Emirates, Liberty, Bin Hamoodah, and Premier were also honoured at the ceremony for providing vehicles and their long service to the police.
