Caluwe, who has trained athletes and celebrities around the world, has been visiting Dubai for a number of years. He is now a resident here to practice as well as demonstrate how accurate and efficient the X-Vibe is. He is regularly available at the fitness centre of Le Meridien Mina Seyahi for consultation and therapy. Whether for people training for the first time or to compete on a professional level, or even if they require rehabilitation after surgery, the X-Vibe has become renowned for its results as well as users' quick recovery.
"The unique feature here is that it can be effectively used by people of all ages. It is effective, hardly noticeable on time and extremely safe," says Caluwe.
We are all obsessed with the way we look. No matter what we do we are never satisfied with our bodies. What's more, around the world there have been numerous exercise regimes, fitness fads and various 'perfect' solutions for powerful abs and a six-pack torso. We have tried them and often failed. Every personal programme aerobic classes, Pilates, yoga, swimming are beneficial and effective for a number of people. Therefore, it is not easy to label a particular regime as the best what works for you may not work for your wife, neighbour or friend. Now, there is the vibration technique and without a doubt it shows results. All you have to do is spare 10 minutes of your time three times a week.
Vibration therapy was discovered at the end of the 19th century when scientists discovered that mechanic vibrations can reduce pain. After much research, and when astronauts were sent into space it was further discovered that vibrations have an influence on bone growth. Astronauts experience a decrease in bone density during their stay in space and vibration therapies were carried out on them, as well as the elderly, to understand the link between vibration training and an improvement in bone density.
The origins
During the 1970's many Russian scientists studied the effects of vibration training for muscle strength, flexibility and reduced recovery time; over the years the technique has been enhanced and improved. Russian scientist, Nazarov designed a machine called the Power Plate. The system has been improved since then by the scientist Bosco and redesigned with new features creating the X-Vibe.
"I have been trained by Bosco while he was working on the X-Vibe. It is truly a remarkable piece of equipment and you can feel the effect right away," explains Caluwe.
An improvement on the original Power Plate machine, they are both used extensively by top-class sports people, because of the spectacular increase in strength and reduced recovery time.
Seeing positive results across various groups, Caluwe has decided to introduce this unique concept to anyone with a cellulite problem or who struggles with their weight. "Top athletes in sports such as football use the X-Vibe regularly. Their training time is reduced considerably and results are superb," says Caluwe.
"The X-Vibe is about vibrations that are sent through the body. You are standing on a firm plate and mechanical energy is sent to the body which produces a stretch reflex resulting in muscle contraction. By repeating this process there is an increase in physical performance."
Another important feature with this product is that training time is much shorter, since the maximum time allowed on it is only ten minutes. The fact that there are vibrations sent through the body results in greater effect on the muscles and there is an increase in hormone production which shows as an improvement in strength and flexibility.
Working with X-Vibe
The X-Vibe might look like a large weighing scale, but exercises for every muscle group can be performed on it. You can work on a muscle group each session, or in time, you can work on all the muscles in the same session.
How it works is that the first few sessions are done on a low frequency, low intensity set up. The maximum workout time is ten minutes, with each exercise carried out for a minute, with breaks in between exercises. You can increase the intensity step by step. First increase the duration of the exercise, then the frequency. Take shorter breaks between exercises and finally use additional weight on yourself when repeating the exercise.
Therefore, depending on how fit you are and your calorie intake, it is possible to lose weight and tone your body. For instance, one minute of push-ups on the machine is equivalent of five minutes of actual push-ups.
However every good thing has some disadvantages. There are certain precautions that one would take into consideration when performing any exercise.
The contraindications for the X-Vibe are pregnancy; recent or possible thrombosis; heart disease or cardiovascular complaints; acute rheumatoid arthritis; foot, knee or hip implants; metal or synthetic implants; acute inflammations or infections.
