Etihad Rail work: Temporary closure on Emirates Road

The Ministry of Energy and Infrastructure has announced a temporary closure on Emirates Road heading towards Sharjah at Al Badia Bridge.

The closure will be in effect from Saturday at 1 am to Monday at 5 am, coinciding with the start of the school reopening period. It is being implemented to facilitate the construction of a temporary bridge for the Etihad Rail project, the ministry said in a social media post.

The closure affects the lane heading to Sharjah. Traffic will be diverted to an alternative route via the Al Suyoh Tunnel towards Al-Mleiha Eastern Road.

Motorists are advised to use alternative routes and follow traffic safety guidelines during this period.

“We apologise for any inconvenience and thank you for your understanding and cooperation in ensuring smooth traffic flow,” the ministry added.

This development comes amid the rehabilitation of a 14-km stretch of the busy Emirates Road. The two to three months project is expected to be completed on Monday, coinciding with the Back-to-School season. Motorists can expect a smooth ride in a few days’ time.
