The viral misinformation has left students uncertain and anxious about their results
The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has dismissed a viral claim circulating on social media stating that the Class 10 results will be declared on May 6. Although the board plans to release the results for both Class 10 and Class 12 this month, an official notification with the exact date and time is still pending.
The false claim has led to confusion among the 4.2 million students awaiting their results. A fabricated letter dated May 2, 2025, falsely announcing the CBSE Class 10 result date, has been widely shared on social media platforms.
In a statement posted on X (formerly Twitter), CBSE clarified: "A letter dated 2nd May 2025 is being circulated on social media. This letter is FAKE. It has not been issued by CBSE. No official announcement has been made regarding the declaration of Class X/XII 2025 results.
"The board urged students, parents, and stakeholders to refrain from sharing unverified news and to trust only official sources for updates. "We urge students, parents, and stakeholders to avoid sharing unverified news and to rely only on official sources for updates," CBSE stated. Students can visit the official website, cbse.gov.in, for accurate and timely information.
The fraudulent letter falsely claims that the CBSE Class 10 results will be announced on May 6, 2025, at 11:00 AM. It also provides misleading instructions on how to check the results and what information will be included on the mark sheets.
In the past, Class 10 results were released on May 13, 2024, and May 12, 2023. It is expected that the results will be announced around the same time this year. CBSE typically announces the Class 10 and Class 12 results on the same day. Students are advised to regularly check official CBSE websites—cbse.gov.in, cbseresults.nic.in, and results.cbse.nic.in—for the latest updates.
For the 2024-25 academic year, around 4.2 million students registered for the board exams, with 2.4 million enrolled in Class 10 and nearly 1.8 million in Class 12.
CBSE has also revised its post-result process. Starting this year, students can now access photocopies of their evaluated answer sheets before submitting requests for verification or re-evaluation.
Previously, students had to apply for verification first, followed by requests for answer sheet copies and then re-evaluation. Now, students will receive their photocopies first and can decide whether to request verification or re-evaluation based on the marks and comments from the evaluators.
"A candidate who receives the photocopy of their evaluated answer book can decide whether to apply for Verification of Marks or Re-evaluation. They can apply for either or both, as per the procedure," CBSE noted in its official communication.
The board emphasised that this change will allow students to make informed decisions based on the evaluation comments and awarded marks. Further details, including timelines, will be shared after the results are declared.
