No official confirmation yet; students advised to follow only verified sources
The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has firmly denied viral social media claims and media reports suggesting that Class 10 and Class 12 board exam results will be declared on May 2, 2025.
No result dates finalised yet
In a statement addressing the widespread speculation, CBSE clarified that no official date has been announced for the release of either result. Reports suggesting that Class 10 results would be declared at 9:45 AM on May 2 and Class 12 results on May 7 at 12:30 PM are unverified and misleading.
A senior CBSE official confirmed to India Today that the result dates have not been finalised, and any updates circulating online are purely speculative.
CBSE has urged students and parents to ignore rumours and refer only to the official websites — cbse.gov.in, cbseresults.nic.in, and results.cbse.nic.in — for accurate information and timely updates.
The Class 10 exams were held from February 15 to March 18, while Class 12 exams concluded on April 4. This year, approximately 4.2 million students appeared — 2.412 million for Class 10 and 1.788 million for Class 12.
In recent years, CBSE has released Class 12 results in mid-May. The 2024 results were announced on May 13, and in 2023, on May 12. The only recent exception was in 2022 when results were delayed until July due to pandemic-related disruptions.
In 2024, 87.33% of Class 12 students passed the exams, with 1.45 million clearing the tests out of 1.66 million who appeared.
To pass Class 10, students must score at least 33% in each subject. The board may also award grace marks if a student narrowly misses the passing mark.
Once results are declared, students will be able to download their provisional marksheets online using their roll number, school number, admit card ID, and date of birth. The original marksheets will be distributed through their respective schools.
Based on past patterns, the Class 10 and 12 results are expected around mid-May 2025. The CBSE has categorically denied any plans to release results on May 2 and has reiterated the importance of waiting for an official notification.
