Sharjah: A 32-year-old Indian woman and her one-year-four-month-old daughter were found dead in their apartment in Al Nahda, Sharjah, in what authorities are treating as a suspected case of suicide and suffocation. The tragic incident occurred on Tuesday, July 8.

The forensic report confirmed that the woman from Kerala died by suicide. She was discovered hanging in the apartment when emergency responders arrived that afternoon.

Forensic specialists confirmed the cause of death as hanging, noting visible marks on her neck consistent with self-harm.

Tragically, her infant daughter was also found unresponsive at the scene. The forensic report concluded that the child died due to airway obstruction, possibly caused by a soft object like a pillow.

There were no signs of physical injury or violence on the child’s body, the report added.

Emergency services were alerted to the scene and arrived promptly. Both bodies were transferred to Al Qasimi Hospital around 2pm and later moved to the forensic laboratory for post-mortem examination.

Authorities have since referred the case to the Sharjah Public Prosecution as investigations continue to determine the full circumstances surrounding the deaths.Sharjah suicide
