Exhibition of ethnic and fusion attire from October 1 in Dubai
It's that time of the year when residents all over the Emirates begin gearing up for the coming festive season, which includes Diwali, Christmas and New Year. With this in mind, Dubai-based Karishma Hira is holding an exhibition of her new range of ethnic and contemporary fusion attire onOctober 1 from 10.30am at her residence in Bur Dubai.
Having recently moved to Dubai from Mumbai, Karishma was eager to resume her fashion business here. She felt that Dubai being the fashionable city it is, women are always on the lookout for new designs.
"I was quick to notice that people here are very fashionable as well as aware of the cost factor. I wanted to give them something that covered both aspects," says Karishma.
Her collection will be featured in two parts. The first, on October 1, is all about colours, prints and unique styles. The clothes will be casual to semi-formal. Some of her styles feature short kurtis that can be worn with silk trousers, jeans or straight pants.
She also has worked-upon jeans and dressy pants, stole and kurti sets with embellishments featuring sequins, stones and thread work. "These outfits feature a very smart cut. They can be worn during the day or in the evenings," says Karishma.
The second set of clothes, which will be shown on October 10, presents a different look. They will feature Karishma's fine workmanship on dressier, more formal outfits that can be worn for weddings and other such formal events. Once again colours and detailing are her main focus.
The exhibtion will have on display Karishma's unique range of handmade handbags. These use traditional Indian fabrics such as silk and jute and pair them with delicate embroidery designs.
"These bags can be carried at anytime. They are bright, yet elegant and can accompany a pair of jeans or an evening dress," says Karishma.
