Phillipa Harrison was the former managing director of Tourism Australia
Ras Al Khaimah: The Ras Al Khaimah Tourism Development Authority (RAKTDA) has appointed Phillipa Harrison as its new CEO.
Harrison, the former Managing Director of Tourism Australia, will lead the emirate's strategy to become a premier global destination, said RAKTDA in a statement.
Harrison brings decades of international experience to her new role, having worked in key tourism markets including Australia and the UK.
She previously served as the Managing Director of Tourism Australia, where she led strategies to boost international tourism and support the industry's recovery.
Sheikh Ahmed bin Saud Al Qasimi, Chairman of RAKTDA’s Executive Committee, said that Harrison's leadership experience gives the Authority confidence in its ability to achieve its goals.
"Tourism is at the heart of Ras Al Khaimah’s strategy, it is our fastest-growing sector and we’ve achieved remarkable milestones in a short period of time," he said.
Al Qasimi said, "Ms. Harrison brings with her a depth of knowledge and leadership experience, most recently with Tourism Australia, that gives us confidence in her ability to align with Ras Al Khaimah’s ambitious goals and strategic targets in the tourism sector.”
Commenting on her new role, Harrison stated she was honored to join at a time of significant growth. "Ras Al Khaimah has already established itself as an international success story, and I look forward to unlocking even more growth in the years ahead," she said.
Harrison's appointment supports Ras Al Khaimah's objective to solidify its position as a sustainable tourism destination. The emirate welcomed a record 650,000 visitors in the first half of 2025 and is working toward a goal of 3.5 million visitors annually by 2030.
Harrison’s predecessor Raki Phillips helped turn Ras Al Khaimah from a little-known tourism destination to a booming development spot, home to the country’s first legal casino. Phillips will be moving to Accor, where he will oversee the French hospitality giant’s premium, midscale and economy division in the Middle East and Africa.
Ras Al Khaimah tourism is set for a period of major transformation, with a clear focus on becoming a luxury and sustainable destination by 2030. Visitors can anticipate the opening of the multi-billion-dollar Wynn Al Marjan Island resort in 2027.
Beyond this flagship project, the emirate is expanding its hospitality portfolio with numerous new five-star hotels from global brands like Nobu and W Hotels.
Additionally, Ras Al Khaimah continues to enhance its adventure offerings on Jebel Jais, including new eco-lodges and sustainable initiatives, ensuring it remains a prime destination for both high-end leisure and outdoor experiences.
