Dubai:  Saudi Arabia and Kuwait have jointly announced a significant new oil discovery in the Partitioned Zone — a shared border region between the two countries — marking the first find since the resumption of joint production operations in mid-2020, Saudi Press Agency (SPA) said on Monday.

The discovery was made in the North Wafra Wara-Burgan field, located approximately five kilometres north of the Wafra field. According to a joint statement, crude oil flowed from the Wara reservoir in the North Wafra (Wara-Burgan-1) well at a rate exceeding 500 barrels per day, with an API gravity between 26 and 27 degrees.

As part of Wafra Joint Operations, the announcement underscores the two nations' continued cooperation in energy exploration and development across shared oil fields.

It also reflects their long-term strategic roles as reliable global energy suppliers, especially amid evolving demands in the international oil market. The new oil discovery is considered highly significant, as it has the potential to enhance both countries' energy security and production capabilities.
