Abu Dhabi: Etihad Airways, UAE’s national carrier, has expanded its European network by launching new services in Prague and Warsaw, Poland. The UAE’s national airline celebrated its inaugural flight to Prague on Monday, June 2, followed by the first flight to Warsaw on Tuesday, June 3. These new routes are part of Etihad’s ambitious plan to add 16 new destinations in 2025. Etihad has also announced plans to launch operations in Charlotte, United States, next year.

“Our new Prague and Warsaw services open doors to countless possibilities,” said Antonoaldo Neves, CEO at Etihad Airways. “These new routes bridge two remarkable regions, connecting travellers from the Middle East to the heart of Central Europe while offering seamless connections via Abu Dhabi to destinations across the Middle East, Africa, Asia, the Indian Subcontinent and Australia.”

Both destinations will be served four times a week. These new connections are expected to boost tourism and trade opportunities between the UAE and both Czechia and Poland, the airline said in a statement.

The Prague and Warsaw routes will be operated using Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner aircraft, featuring 28 Business Studios and 262 Economy Smart seats, ensuring a comfortable journey with the latest in-flight entertainment.

To mark its expanding network, Etihad has also launched ‘The Extraordinary Challenge’, a competition where Etihad Guest members can race to visit 15 new destinations, including Prague and Warsaw, to win up to five million Etihad Guest miles.

In a recent interview with Gulf News, Neves said the airline plans to hire 1,500 employees next year. Etihad currently has around 12,000 employees, and the senior leadership team anticipates that this number could double by 2030 as the airline expands its fleet.
