After Emirates Group announced a massive hiring drive to recruit over 17,300 professionals this year, social media is abuzz with speculation on the salaries and perks the group’s staff will enjoy.
From cash benefits to medical insurance to travel discounts, Emirates employees get one of the best perks in the industry.
Emirates group is looking to onboard 17,300 people, equivalent to a mid-size town or the seating capacity of 58 Airbus A350 aircraft, across 350 roles.
These roles span every facet, function and operations across Emirates, the world’s most profitable and largest international airline, and dnata, a leading global air and travel services provider.
Hundreds of new recruits are required across some roles, including cabin crew, pilots, engineers, commercial and sales teams, customer service, ground handling, catering, IT, HR and finance. dnata is looking to hire more than 4,000 cargo, catering and ground handling specialists.
Throughout the year, the group will be hosting more than 2,100 open days and other talent acquisition events in 150 cities.
Since 2022, the group has onboarded more than 41,000 talented professionals, including nearly 27,000 in various operational roles, and today has a 121,000-strong workforce.
The airline has advertised vacancies for the post of direct entry captain. To be eligible for the role and fly the A350s or A380s, candidates will need a minimum of 7,000 hours total flying time multi-crew, multi-engine (only time in the operating seat of a turboprop and/or turbojet aircraft can be counted, not simulator time).
The captains will receive a tax-free annual total package of up to Dh1,185,000 (Dh98,750 per month, or $320,000 annually). This includes annual take-home cash of Dh575,000 (Dh47,916 per month, or $155,000 per year), comprising annualised basic salary and flying pay. The monthly take-home cash is based on an average of 85 flying hours.
The perks include company-provided accommodation with utilities, education allowance of Dh52,250 for primary and Dh79,750 for secondary education (up to three children), annual leave entitlement of 42 calendar days, confirmed annual leave tickets for the employee and the dependents, upgradeable to First Class, access to Emirates Platinum card offering exclusive retail, leisure and services discounts, concessional travel benefits for the employee and eligible dependents, provident (pension) scheme employer contribution, comprehensive medical, life, and accident insurance, and eligibility for an annual profit share based on company performance.
The airline has also listed vacancies for accelerated command, which allows first officers to progress to captaincy faster than the standard timeframe under special circumstances.
To be eligible, the candidate will need to have operated the “right-hand seat for a minimum of 700 stick hours and successfully complete two evidence based training (EBT) recurrent training modules. Assuming you meet the standards and display the required level of performance, you will then be eligible for accelerated command via an assessment process and an upgrade course,” the airline said.
The selected candidates will earn a tax-free salary of Dh443,940 per annum (Dh36,995 per month, or $120,863 per year) based on an average of 85 hours per month. They will also be eligible for company-provided accommodation, including utilities.
The role also comes with sizeable education allowance - Dh52,250 for primary and Dh79,750 for secondary, for up to three children.
To be a first officer with Emirates, the candidate will need a minimum of 2,000 hours total flying time. More experienced first officers, with 4,000+ hours, can expect an enhanced salary package.
The role comes with a tax-free salary of Dh382,080 per annum (Dh31,840 per month, or $104,024 per annuam) based on an average of 85 hours per month. Perks also include company-provided accommodation, including utilities, education allowance of Dh52,250 for primary and Dh79,750 for secondary, for up to three children, eligibility for an annual profit share (based on company performance), 42 calendar days annual leave, confirmed annual leave tickets for employee and dependents, among others.
They should have had more than a year’s experience in hospitality/customer service, and a positive attitude and the natural ability to provide excellent service in a team environment, dealing with people from many cultures.
The minimum qualification is high school (Grade 12). Candidates will also need to be fluent in written and spoken English, with the ability to speak another language being an advantage.
They should be at least 160cm tall and should be able to reach 212 cm while standing on tiptoes, to enable them to reach emergency equipment on all aircraft types.
Importantly, they should not have any visible tattoos while in Emirates cabin crew uniform.
Their salary will be tax-free and will comprise three components: a fixed basic salary, an hourly pay for operated flights and an overseas meal allowance. Basic salary will be Dh4,430 a month, along with flying pay of Dh63.75 an hour based on avg. 80-100 hours a month. Average total pay will come to Dh10,170 per month.
