Dubai: Emirates is enhancing the way passengers travel to the Maldives and Sri Lanka by expanding its popular Premium Economy offering to even more flights on these routes.

As part of its commitment to providing world-class service, the airline has deployed its newly retrofitted Boeing 777 aircraft featuring Premium Economy cabins on select services to Malé and Colombo.

From this month, Emirates now operates three daily flights between Dubai and Malé with Premium Economy seating, giving Maldives-bound holidaymakers access to elevated comfort throughout their entire journey.

Flights EK656/657 and EK660/661 are operated by the upgraded Boeing 777, featuring refreshed interiors across all four classes — including 24 spacious Premium Economy seats arranged in a 2-4-2 layout with plush leather upholstery, wider recline, and extra legroom.

Boost for Sri Lanka travellers

In a further boost for Sri Lanka-bound travellers, Emirates will introduce Premium Economy on a second daily flight to Colombo (EK650/651) starting July 18, also using the retrofitted Boeing 777. This will complement the existing daily A350 service (EK654/655) which already features Premium Economy seating.

The airline now offers Premium Economy on over 40 destinations across its global network, allowing passengers from multiple cities to enjoy consistent luxury from takeoff to touchdown when flying to either the Maldives or Sri Lanka.

Emirates’ upgraded Boeing 777 also features:

  • 8 private First Class suites

  • 40 lie-flat Business Class seats in a 1-2-1 layout with a 23-inch HD screen and personal mini-bar

  • 24 Premium Economy seats with enhanced cushioning, adjustable headrests, and 35kg of checked baggage

  • 256 ergonomically designed Economy seats

More Premium travel options

The refreshed Business Class cabin is inspired by Emirates’ iconic A380, with champagne-toned leather seats and lighter wood paneling to create a modern, airy feel.

Emirates continues to operate four daily flights to Malé, with three now serviced by the upgraded Boeing 777. Tickets to both the Maldives and Colombo can be booked via emirates.com, the Emirates App, or through travel agents.

This latest upgrade reaffirms Emirates’ commitment to offering premium travel options to popular destinations, meeting the evolving expectations of both business and leisure travellers.
