Dubai Health Authority (DHA) is now accepting applications from Emirati high school graduates who are seeking scholarships in medicine, nursing and other healthcare-related fields.

Amna Al Suwaidi, Director of Human Resources at DHA, said that in addition to covering students’ expenses and the scholarship, the authority will offer monetary incentives throughout their education to encourage them to excel in their studies.

The authority will also give these students priority in training and employment opportunities at DHA facilities.
Al Suwaidi said that DHA was working on adding more specialisations and skilled cadres to its facilities to meet its Emiratisation objectives, which are among the most important developmental paths in the authority’s 2016-2021 strategy.

Candidates wishing to apply for the scholarships must be UAE nationals, in good health and provide good conduct certificates. If they are male, they should have completed their military service or provide documents to show it has been postponed or they have been exempted.

Students seeking scholarships should have high scores as well — no less than 90 per cent for those wishing to study medicine, 80 per cent for nursing, physiotherapy and pharmacy and 85 per cent for those wishing to major in supporting medical fields such as X-ray, lab tech and anaesthesia.

Candidates should not be recipients of scholarships from another institution. Applicants will have to appear for an interview. Once accepted, Al Suwaidi said the authority will cover his/her tuition fees, provide a monthly allowance, cover cost for books as well as a laptop. The authority will also provide the students with health insurance.

Candidates can apply until July 19. However, students who graduated high school two years ago or earlier will not be eligible for the scholarship. Visit Dha.gov.ae to apply. For more information, email mscholarship@dha.gov.ae
