DUBAI: Residents of Jumeirah 3 have welcomed the opening of a new supermarket in their neighbourhood.

Emirates International Group’s (EIG) Roseberry Supermarket which opened at The Mall near Madinat Jumeirah offers a wide range of fresh products, delivered directly from the company’s farms in Sharjah. Spread over 80,000 square feet, The Mall boasts of a slew of high end stores, cafes, grooming lounges. The only thing missing from it was a supermarket. Sure enough, its opening has come as big relief for residents.

“In the past I’ve had to drive down to Waitrose or Union Cooperative on Al Wasl for my groceries, but this place is so close from my house I can just walk up to it,” says Noor Tareq, a mother of three.

Natasha D’souza, 32, a resident of Nakheel Villas on Hessa Street said she is happy to have a convenient option closer home.

“The new supermarket is just about perfect for me as it saves me a lot of time,” said D’souza.

Official launch

The Mall opened last year but was inaugurated on Monday. The swanky two-storey shopping centre has 65 retail stores and a food court.

Retailers said the launch of the supermarket will be good for their business as it might result in increased footfall.

Nancy Nese Ozbek, general manager, The Mall, said they would be targeting communities living within a 5-7 kilometre radius.
