Hard-to-resist Buggy Run beckons in Dubai

Fun, fitness event on February 24 designed for whole families and communities

DUBAI: Here’s the deal. You can run, walk or skip, go solo, as a team, even as a relay, and bring your kids along – the older ones on bikes or scooters and the younger ones in buggies. Yes, that’s what the upcoming Buggy Run 2018 in Dubai is all about, a hard-to-resist fitness event designed for the whole family.

Taking place at the Dubai Autodrome on February 24, the buggy brigade will have people of all ages and abilities and will entail an untimed 2.5km and 5km run with buggies, for beginners and seasoned runners alike.

The aim of the event is to bring families and friends together, besides encouraging fitness as a positive, fun and community experience.

“We’re committed to play a part in the family fitness movement and are focused on engaging communities across the UAE, from nurseries and residential clusters, to sports groups and health clubs,” said Lara Sweida-Metwally who co-founded the Buggy Run aloing with another mummy runner Nicola Holmes.

“We’re delighted to have our fitness partner, Urban Energy Fitness back on board to offer free training sessions. We can guarantee a fun morning for all with lots of entertainment and prizes to be won,” said Holmes.

Registration for the event is open at Prices start at Dh120 for an individual, Dh170 for a relay team and Dh195 for a family.
