DUBAI: If you and your friend have different tastes in music but want to hit the dance floor together, then head to Mr Miyagi’s ‘Silent Disco’ nights on a Tuesday.
The way it works is simple. “The Silent Disco allows you to switch tracks like changing radio stations while driving. If you don’t like a song, you switch to another channel while the others continue to listen and dance to it,” said Dominique McKinsey, junior marketing manager at Fore Front Facilities Management LLC that looks after Mr Miyagi’s.
The place has eight stations that cater to R&B, soft tones, commercial, hip-hop, funk, electronic dance music (EDM), pop and soul lovers.
Different beats
American expat Katie Branson says she loves it here as it is far removed from the blaring noise at other clubs. “It’s a different experience. I wish Mr Miyagi’s would host this over the weekends as well. We haven’t missed any Tuesday since the disco launched on July 3,” said the 36-year-old.
Zero disturbance
Visitors at the restaurant are also happy. Caroline Rowe, director of marketing and communications at Media One Hotel, “We have to ensure the noise levels don’t disturb our in-house guests. The silent disco is a great idea as guests can turn up the volume to their heart’s content with zero disturbance to others.”
