US President Donald Trump became the subject of widespread online satire after claiming he had brokered a ceasefire between India and Pakistan.

While the claim triggered a wave of jokes across social media — with users referring to him as ‘Sardar Donald Singh Trump’ and even ‘Sarpanch’ — netizens of Bengaluru took the satire a step further, humorously inviting Trump to resolve two of the city’s most frustrating infrastructure bottlenecks.

‘MAGA Trump flyover’ proposal

A popular X account, Karnataka Weather (@BengaluruRains_), sparked laughter and resonance when it posted a request for Trump to mediate with Bengaluru’s civic agencies.

The user urged Trump to intervene with the Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) to fast-track the perpetually delayed Ejipura flyover and asked him to convince the Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation Limited (BMRCL) to speed up the long-pending Yellow Line of the Namma Metro.

"Hello Donald Trump, could you please mediate with BBMP to ESCALATE Ejipura flyover works in Bengaluru? We’ll name it the MAGA Trump Flyover," the post read, in a tongue-in-cheek nod to Trump’s campaign slogan.

An ‘open challenge’

In a follow-up post, the user added, “Stopping the India-Pakistan war is not such a big deal. If he wants to prove he’s a strong negotiator and global leader, let him do this and prove his worth to the world. Open challenge.”

The Ejipura flyover project, started in 2017, has faced continuous delays, becoming a traffic nightmare for commuters in central Bengaluru. Similarly, the Yellow Line — expected to link RV Road to Bommasandra — has been delayed multiple times, with missed deadlines frustrating daily metro users.

Sarcasm meets civic frustration

The post, while clearly satirical, struck a nerve with residents. Comments poured in, with many echoing grievances through humour.

One user quipped, “The moment Trump was asked to get the Ejipura flyover done, he said, ‘Ceasefire khatam lekin yeh flyover nahi ban sakta’ (The ceasefire can end but this flyover will not be completed).”

Another quipped, “Ejipura flyover is a monument now. Even if Trump and Vance try, our ASI won't allow it to be altered.”

Summing up public frustration, a user declared, “If you can negotiate with BBMP, you truly are a global leader.” Another tagged Trump again: “Also escalate BBMP to fix Outer Ring Road and Hoskerehalli flyover.”
