Dubai: A deadly crash shook Egypt’s capital on Tuesday evening when a marble-laden truck collided with a passenger bus and two cars on the Autostrad highway, leaving three people dead and seven others injured, authorities said.

The collision, which occurred near the entrance to the highway from Helwan toward Saqr Quraysh, caused the vehicles to crumple and brought traffic to a standstill for several hours. According to preliminary investigations, the truck driver lost control before striking the other vehicles with force, shutting down traffic for hours as emergency teams rushed to the scene.

Emergency services rushed to the scene, deploying ambulances to transport the injured to nearby hospitals, while the bodies of the deceased were transferred to local morgues. Civil defence teams worked to clear the wreckage and restore traffic flow.

An Interior Ministry source said two victims were taken to Al Basateen Hospital while the third body was recovered hours later from beneath the wreckage. The public prosecution has launched an investigation into the circumstances of the crash.
