Dubai: Egyptian actor and singer Mohammed Ramadan has ignited a firestorm of criticism after posting a video of himself praying inside his private jet while his song "Alhamdulillah" played in the background, prompting accusations of blasphemy and calls for legal action.

The clip, shared on Instagram, shows Ramadan performing Islamic prayers as the upbeat track, whose title translates to "Praise Be to God" plays over the footage.

The video quickly drew backlash, with critics accusing the controversial star of disrespecting religious rituals by merging worship with self-promotion.

This is not the first time Ramadan has stirred controversy. In April, he faced widespread backlash for what many described as a "feminine" outfit during his performance at California’s Coachella festival, a look that clashed with conservative expectations in Egypt.

At the time, critics accused him of undermining traditional values, though he defiantly celebrated the milestone, calling it a historic achievement for Arab artists.

"Coachella was a big dream, and thanks to God and my amazing fans, it came true," he wrote at the time. "I believe this is just the beginning… Coachella is the first step in making history."
