Incident latest in series of troubling cases involving alleged misconduct by educators
Dubai: Egyptian prosecutors have opened an investigation into a primary school teacher accused of sexually harassing 13 female students at a school in the city of Al Kharga, located in the southwestern part of the country.
The case came to light after several parents filed complaints with both the school administration and the local education authority, prompting immediate action from the departments concerned.
According to local media, the Public Prosecution began formal inquiries on Monday.
Wasfi Hassan, Director of the Education Department in Al Kharga, confirmed that 13 internal reports were filed at the school after initial complaints from parents.
In addition, two official police reports were submitted to the local police station. The case has since been referred to the Public Prosecution for further legal action.
The incident is the latest in a series of troubling cases involving alleged misconduct by educators in Egypt. In recent months, multiple accusations have surfaced. In one case, a mathematics teacher at a primary school in Cairo was referred to a disciplinary trial after allegedly harassing a third-grade student, an incident that caused widespread public anger.
Earlier in May, a mother in Dakahlia Governorate filed a police complaint against a private tutor accused of harassing her sixth-grade daughter; the teacher later admitted to the act during questioning.
