Abu Dhabi: Yemeni President Abd Rabbuh Mansour Hadi called for the overriding of the public interest and for the unification of fronts between Yemenis against the Houthi coup.

Mansour Hadi stressed during a meeting with members of the Presidency of the House of Representatives, in the presence of the Prime Minister, to discuss the political and field situation, that the Riyadh agreement represents the only way out to end the crisis with the Transitional Council, calling for its implementation and an end to bloodshed.

He added, “the Riyadh agreement represents the safe way out to end the causes, manifestations and repercussions of the armed rebellion in the temporary capital of Aden, and some liberated areas, in a manner that dominates the supreme national interest, and unifies efforts to confront the Houthi coup, and to accommodate everyone in the framework of the state and its military, security and civil institutions, but its implementation faltered for a long time as a result of some escalatory practices that included the announcement of the so-called (self-administration) in the Governorate of Socotra Archipelago.

With regard to the Houthi militias, the Yemeni president affirmed that they always resorted to reneging on their pledges, and met the legitimate government’s desire for peace with escalation.

He said he thinks Al Houthi had taken Yemen as a base to target brothers with Iranian missiles, stressing that coup militias had rejected international calls for dialogue, and focus efforts on fighting the COVID-19 pandemic.
