Sana'a: A suspected Al Qaida-linked suicide bomber, loaded with an explosive belt, detonated himself in a police car in the Yemeni port city of Aden, hours after another attack killed a senior security official in the South.
The ministry of defence said that a bomber struck the police car, killing himself and injuring two soldiers.
Earlier, not far from Aden, Colonel Amin Al Shami, commander of Al Anad aviation base in Lahji, was killed when a bomb planted in his car, which was parked in the market, exploded. The explosion critically injured two security officials, Saba News Agency reported. The government pointed fingers at Al Qaida for both attacks.
In Sana'a, Vice-President Abd Rabu Mansour Hadi said that the Yemen army, which is battling Al Qaida in Abyan, has killed more than 700 militants since May.
