Border tribe rejects demarcation
Sanaa: A tribe from the Yemeni-Saudi border said the border demarcation had partitioned their lands and violated the border agreement between the Yemeni and Saudi governments.
"The lands we talk about belong to the Yemeni Waela tribes and we repeat our refusal to the Yemeni government's underestimation and renunciation of lands outside the demarcation agreement," said a statement issued by the Waela tribe.
The tribe considered that as "a clear breach of the agreements and conventions between the two neighbouring countries."
"About three quarters of our lands were looted which we would have protected, if it were not for the president's promises to protect our properties, so we allowed the German company to demarcate the borders by passing through our lands," said the statement, which was published by Marebpress, a website close to the tribe.
