Cairo: A man has survived after a tiger pounced on him in a zoo in the Saudi capital Riyadh, Saudi media reported Sunday.

The man, believed to be a Sudanese national, appears in a viral video lying on the ground and being mauled by the tiger before a security guard saves him by firing tranquiliser shots at the predator.

The man was taken to hospital with injuries in the neck and the feet.

He is reportedly in stable condition.

It is not clear yet how the man had entered the tiger’s enclosure in the incident that occurred in the zoo in the Riyadh district of Al Malaz on Saturday.

However, Saudi news portal Ajel, citing unnamed sources, said he had pushed his way into the site for no clear reason.
