Dubai: Saudi Arabia is allowing vaccinated citizens to travel abroad, starting from May 17.
Earlier in 2021, the Saudi Ministry of Interior had announced lifting the ban on travel and opening all land, sea and air borders.
The ministry urged passengers to adhere to COVID-19 measures and restrictions imposed in the countries they are travelling to.
Three categories are allowed to travel abroad. They include those who received the two doses of COVID-19 vaccine, and those who recovered from coronavirus and have not completed six months since they contracted the infection.
Also, passengers who are less than 18 years, provided that they provide an insurance policy approved by the Saudi Central Bank that covers COVID-19 related risks outside the Kingdom, as announced by the authorities.
Citizens coming back to the Kingdom will have to inter into one-week home quarantine and should conduct a PCR test at the end of the quarantine period. Children below eight years are excluded from the PCR test.
Passengers are advised to follow precautionary measures and instructions before they travel to avoid difficulties they may face. They are also urged to take extra caution when travelling to countries on the high-risk list where the pandemic is spreading quickly and the daily reported cases are high according to the regular updates issued by competent authorities.
