Cairo: US President Donald Trump on Saturday praised Saudi Crown Prince for doing a “spectacular job” with reforms in Saudi Arabia.

“It’s an honour to be with the Crown Prince of Saudi Arabia... a man who has really done things in the last five years in terms of opening up Saudi Arabia,” Trump said at a meeting with Prince Mohammad on the sidelines of the G20 summit in Osaka, Japan.

The Saudi heir apparent is seen as an architect of radical socio-economic changes in his country.

“It’s like a revolution in a very positive way,” Trump said. “You have done a spectacular job,” Trump told Prince Mohammad, calling him as “a friend of mine.”

Trump said they had met on trade, economic and military cooperation. “The meetings have been really terrific,” he added.

For his part, Prince Mohammad lauded close ties between Saudi Arabia and the US under Trump.

“With you Mr. President we did a lot of great achievements, in the political side, security side, military side, and economical side,” he said.

“We’re trying to do our best for our country, Saudi Arabia, and it’s a long journey,” Prince Mohammad said.

He added that Saudi-US cooperation will benefit both countries “for GDP growth and job creation and more safety for both countries.”

Both sides also discussed coordination on regional developments and their respective countries’ stances, the official Saudi news agency SPA reported.

The Saudi royal led his country’s delegation at the G20 gathering in Japan where he held a series of bilateral meetings with world leaders.
